Reaching Out to Communities to Improve Health Outcomes: Rutgers Equity Alliance for Community Health
People’s health is affected by where they live and other long-term structural factors. If you live in an area that doesn’t have access to grocery stores, good schools, high paying jobs, and good housing, your ability to live the healthiest life possible is compromised. These social determinants have a far greater impact on people’s health than anything else and, unfortunately, this is a reality for many New Jersey communities.
The Rutgers Equity Alliance for Community Health, or R.E.A.C.H., is an initiative born to address these issues. It was set-up in 2021 as a Presidential Initiative, where they received a four year, $10m grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation combined with funding from the University. They are using an evidence-based and collaborative approach that unites the expertise of community leaders who have been working to address these social determinants, with the expertise of Rutgers faculty and staff.
Starting in three communities where Rutgers has its campuses: Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick, their focus is on five social determinants of health: education, employment, food access and security, housing, and population health.
What sets this initiative apart is its underlying spirit of “nothing about us, without us”. For too long there has been a philosophy in academia that they can go into communities and tell them how to fix their problems, which understandably has met with a lot of resistance. Instead, the goal of REACH is to change the way Rutgers faculty students and staff partner with communities, working alongside them and building up trust.
Also, rather than one-off, “run-and-done” projects, that often leave communities feeling frustrated, they want to foster more sustainable long-term relationships. Their ambition is these lasting relationships will ultimately promote policy and systems change, bringing sustainable growth and improved health and socioeconomic outcomes to the lives of New Jerseyans.

If I was offered a larger panel I would’ve found out my partner and I were carriers of ataxia telangiectasia and my daughter wouldn’t have to live a severely debilitating life. I think it should be standard in this point. Just because many of these diseases are incredibly rare doesn’t mean we should just push aside the possibility of it. It was a huge shock to the system and heartbreaking. I love my daughter to death and I’m happy to have her but if we had known before conceiving her we would’ve made different plans for safety conceiving.

Thank you for your energetic response to my commentaries! I see THEY added a third comment on this blog. The Claytons were Polish royalty and there are many members of the American military. THEY DID say, "You went the other way," but this has to be the right way if they are using countering. I would add a blog to make the third one go away, and I need more witnesses.

They sure didn't give my dad any quality of care I would not recommend anyone go here. They did not tell me my dad was diagnosed with trombocytopenia. Instead they gave him two blood transfusions his hemoglobins were at 7.5 before the first transfusion. After the first one it dropped to 2.1. after they gave him what I believe was a dead man's blood with good kidneys. My dad's kidney function after new blood showed .67 function although his kidneys before the new blood was .1 then they started doing blood work everything else went off the chart either high or low and his platelets and globulins dropped. After a ton of unnecessary blood work they gave him a pint or more of blood that I later found expired the next day. After that the globulins dropped to -10. They did view on his organs while I was pretending to be asleep when she got to his pancreas I saw a tiny cyst close or on the blood vessel that was leaking blood as his heart pumped. She saw me looking and quickly moved to somewhere else. They never discussed anything and would not give me his records when they put him on hospice and said he had cancer. Two days later after getting on MyChart. They switched it all around to make it look like his last blood work was the first to make it appear it gradually got better. But before that there was just wrong timing on everything til I complained so then they did the switch around and on the notes of the looking at his organs they talked about everything but said the pancreas was not visualized and I looked at clearly myself. After they updated his records for the third or fourth time after being on hospice 3 days and fading quickly I saw where he was diagnosed with trombocytopenia two or three weeks prior from the last trip there. And diagnosed again the first day on our last trip. Their own notes said if blood work didn't improve he would need treatment. Well it decreased dramatically with whatever dead blood they put in him. And never got steroids or any kind of proper treatment. He died on the 5th day after coming home. And I'm very upset because had they gave him steroids and medication to increase the platelets it could have stop the internal bleeding. And by now he may have been stable. Instead they called it colon cancer switched times around on the blood work to look good in their favor. But I have screenshots of everything they did to cover their intentional murder that I know they did to my dad. I bury him Monday. And if I have to sell my home and property I will put them at fault in prison unless they go to hell first. I can't bring my dad back he was a wonderful man. But maybe I can stop these demons from killing untelling how many more innocent lives that put their confidence in people that are there to do their best extend a life. You sick bastards will burn in hell for this. But know this my dad went to heaven I know for sure. When Monday gets passed and he's buried I'm coming for all you murdering non professional, misdiagnosing bastards. Btw when his autopsy comes back and show it was a bacterial infection and not cancer you will have a long time to explain why he didn't get treatment for what he did have and explain how what was supposed to be replenished blood didn't help his blood count but deplete to a negative 10 globulins level. Yeah you're all fucked. Like seriously fucked I recorded the nurse Monday the first day stating his globulins level was over 7. On March 18th at 11:59 am. Then told us it went up some the next day which is also on audio. Then explain why your records indicate his globulins was negative 10 on the 18th at 1159.. I've went through everything and still building my case against you satanists. While grieving for my loss but after the funeral I'll have nothing but time to put you all in prison and make sure you never practice in the medical field in your short lifetime

I'm thinking she tapped in a part of the brain that most people can't access. You know how animals just know what they're supposed to do all the time even without any guidance, they also know what sounds to make to communicate ( especially speaking a language without training), the knowledge and ions of experience are stored in their natural DNA and I wonder if this case is a similar kind of connection or acces in the brain.

well nice presentation and a leading narrative, but like MULDER and I want to BELIEVE....ok....where is the actual proof rather than suggestive WORDS....show me the MONEY. My GF of 30 years has sleep issues and often does not achieve sleep paralysis and talks in her sleep and the vocal aspects are slurred and incomplete and...GIBBERISH, though sometimes it sounds as if she said something coherent.....vocalizing a abstract DREAM which SHE should not be DOING as it is abnormal by text book technicality......UNLESS THE WRITER OF THE TEXT BOOK WAS WRONG ! Which wouldn't be the first time the foundations were rewritten and corrected. One thing for certain is......I .......LIKE... people who can speak dead languages that have been dead for centuries BUT THEY KNOW......and they ABSOLUTELY know ....and who's is to Question THEM for THEY are the EXPERT......and the Fox guarding the Hen House....or the Inmate running the Asylum !

How might anyone control the population through medical means but by being agents of the state -- attacking the populations medical resources and then going to great lengths to hide anything that disturbing...Who participates in that? Heroes? Physicians for Human Rights articles describe what medicine looks like in totalitarian states such as Syria and explains the consequences for society well...

"He walks with my." My father liked Elvis Presley, and he offered to help us. Maybe there's a way if they read this, because they are using me as a central witness, so you're bound to have something that matches. I knew I needed experiential knowledge, and Dr. Osteroff understands. It's understood patients near the phone answer it, but the late Malcolm Bowers kept yelling at me to get off the phone, because he was on rounds. Dr. Jean-Baptiste sat behind Malcolm Bowers at the hearings, and they didn't take the oath wholeheartedly. Dr. Bowers said, "She didn't apologize to her mother," which is because she committed me and I didn't appreciate it. I told her lawyer I don't believe she is competent, and he said not to call or he would get a restraining order. In papers I got later, it read, "She can't return home because of a restraining order," but Atty. Gwendolyn McDonald said not such restraining order ever existed. Dr. Bowers said I was incompetent because I said I hadn't been hospitalized in ten years, and Judge Keyes asked my mother who said I was hospitalized for four years, and Judge Keyes repeated, "Four years?!" and he ended the hearing. He kept cutting me off to say, "Let your lawyer talk for you," and the lawyer put his head down while I talked, and at other times he has represented that I am an incompetent. If it's true, then I require representation. Judge Keyes said he would reconsider if he knew I had a car, which was on the February 14, 2000 physicians emergency certificate. To prove incompetent, Dr. Bowers and my brother said I forgot I was hospitalized at the start of 2000; and again, in the Fall. The p.e.c. was more than six months old, or I would have tried to say something, so it proves that the people committing me were incompetent. My father asked questions, and the Ulrichs did, and I don't know about Margaret Thomas and Karen Thomas (the fellow who came into the courtroom.) I think the COURTESY was to Margie and Doug, with the TRUST, but they THOROUGHLY ABUSED THEIR JOB. It gets more and more heinous; and today, Kylie Clayton was given a lethal dose of Abilify. (I believe the purpose of Abilify is to kill.) Dr. Jean-Baptiste was transferred to St. Raphaels and then somewhere else. This doesn't usually happen with me, because there is not so much pressure to curtail my rights and treat me involuntarily. All of the nurses were off the unit and one came from LV-3 to talk to me, and then they went ahead with involuntary medication. The first time I refused, and I was given five times the dose by injection. I strongly believe injections should be illegal, and EVERYONE asks if the AI went crazy. I told Dr. Bowers about my grievance, and he said, "You look nice today." Mary Chutzjian opened my mail, which was from the Health Department. Our witness Royce Shanley, said she agrees with the terrible things I say about Judge Keyes, and she is a socialite / neighborhood mother. When I told Dr. Osteroff what was going on, a month past, he asked for my sister's contact information. (In twenty years, my conservator was removed, and I had a horrible amount of medication involuntarily administered to the point where I'm hypersensitive.) Dr. Osteroff has asked if I went to a group home, and THEY took him off my case in 2015. I had walked into the emergency department with toxicity, and THEY said, "You have a choice between Haldol and Prolixin." That was the treatment team PLUS my doctor came in from Connecticut Mental Health Center with a prescription for Invega. He said I had to double the injection I was trying to get off, and I chose Haldol. The doctor is a Latino, who are more fit than Americans, and the way he put it, "I can get you out," helped me think of how to handle it. I curled up on my bed, clenching my fists. It feels like the sheath pulls back at the tip of the finger, and it shoots out of the nerves AND I KNOW THE PURPOSE OF THE ORAL IS TO PUSH IT BACK. THEY think there is SOME therapeutic effect. I've heard you have to keep taking it because your receptors leak; but THEY KNOW THE ULTIMATE TORTURE, AND I'VE KNOWN THIS FOR SOME TIME. It is beyond worldly tortures, AND THEY WANT TO USE MY TORTURE TO CAUSE FEAR. They will say if you comply it won't happen to you.
